We arrive at Camp Hope in Lizana, MS!

This morning we attended Easter Sunday mass at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Athens, Alabama. We got back on the road shortly after mass for another 7 hour caravan to Lizana, Mississippi. We were all very excited to get to Camp Hope at St. Ann's Catholic Church. After unpacking the cars and trailers, the staff here told us to take a short trip to the coast in Long Beach so that we could see first hand today an area hit hard by the destruction. The entire coastline was devastated, only a few scattered buildings were still remaining. A few new homes are starting to be built but those are few and far between.

We start work tomorrow which we are all excited about. Our trip to the coast this evening really opened our eyes to the great amount of help still needed here.

After arriving at Camp Hope, we took a short trip (another car ride!) to the shore to see some of the damage from Hurricane Katrina. Entire subdivisions were wiped out. These pictures dont do justice of the destruction. Check back for future posts and more pictures.
